GREENSBORO Genevieve (Genny) Cobrda (October 6, 1946 February 1, 2017) passed away peacefully at Beacon Place. Born and raised in Akron, Ohio, Ms. Cobrda is survived by her brother, John Cobrda (Pauline), of Greensboro; nephew, Jonathan Cobrda of New York, NY; her long-time partner, Jerry Rothstein of Melbourne, Australia; and her beloved cats, Peanut, Annie, and Sophie. Genny received her RN degree from St. Thomas Hospital in Akron, Ohio and continued her nursing career education to the level of MS from St. Thomas University of Miami, FL. She recently worked for United Health Care Systems. In 1997, Genny was honored as one of the great 100 nurses for excellence in practice and commitment to the nursing profession in North Carolina. While a nurse at The Ohio State University Hospitals, Genny's lifelong love affair with her beloved "Buckeyes" began. She was the quintessential fan and could be found rooting for her favorite team every game day. Genny was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. She was active in the choir and was instrumental in raising funds for the new organ. A celebration of her life will take place at Christ Lutheran Church on Saturday, February 4 at 11 a.m., followed by a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 3600 Lawndale Dr., Greensboro, NC 27408. Forbis and Dick has been entrusted with arrangements.
