George Deatherage Obituary

REIDSVILLE George William Deatherage, 78, of Reidsville, passed away at his home on Tuesday, December 11, 2018. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2018, at 3 p.m. at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm St. Chapel in Greensboro. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. two hours prior to the funeral service. George will be laid to rest in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery on Monday, December 17, 2018. Born in Guilford County on July 15, 1940, to the late Walter and Ada Deatherage, George was a graduate of Grimsley Senior High School. He retired from Newman Machine Company after 40 years of employment. George also volunteered with the National Guard for a total of eight years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Scott Deatherage; four sisters; and four brothers. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Peggy Payne Deatherage; daughter, Kimberly Deatherage; son, Bill Deatherage; step-daughter, Teresa Martin (Bruce); step-son, Dillard McGee, Jr. (Michelle); brothers, Ralph Deatherage (Vera) and Clyde Deatherage (Melanie); and four grandchildren, Sarah Deatherage, Isaac Deatherage, Michelle Wood (Chris), and Zac Cooke (Ashley). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice. Online condolences may be made at www.haneslineberryfunerals.com.
