George Wagoner Obituary

MADISON George Jefferson Wagoner, 90, died Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at Hospice Home of Rockingham County.The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 24, 2016, at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Eddie McClure and Reverend Tommy Vass officiating. Interment will follow in Grace Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites provided by the Rockingham County Honor Guard and the North Carolina National Guard.Mr. Wagoner was born January 29, 1926, in Patrick County, VA, to the late Dillard Wagoner and Lena Hill Wagoner. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a charter member of Pine Hall Presbyterian Church (since 1947), a life-time member of Madison VFW, a past employee of Western Auto, and retired from Burlington Industries/Unifi.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Claude, Coy and Dewey Wagoner and sister, Margaret Wagoner.Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Gladys Juanita Justice Wagoner; sons, James Benton "J.B." Wagoner (Jewell) of Madison and Donnie Lee Wagoner (Deborah) of Burlington; brother, Lewis Wagoner; grandchildren, Jennifer Cook (Dan), Derek Wagoner (Julie), and Daren Wagoner (Jenny); and great-grandchildren, Allison Cook, Bailey Cook, Ben Cook, Alexis Wagoner and Gage Wagoner.The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday, at Colonial Funeral Home and all other times at the residence.Memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 3097 U.S. Highway 311, Madison, NC 27025.Colonial Funeral Home in Madison is serving the family.Condolences may be offered at www.colonialfh.net.
