GREENSBORO Gordon Turner, 74, of Greensboro, NC went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 21, 2018, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born May 24, 1943, to Wilma and Gordon Turner. He married Rebecca Summerlin on September 6, 1964, who is left to cherish his memory. Also surviving are his three children, Greg Turner (Kristen), Jill Fairburn (Doug), and Jodie Champion (Tom) and eleven grandchildren, Kelsey Houston (Tommy), Adam Turner, Will Scarbrough, Coleman Fairburn, Hannah Turner, Gracie Champion, Chloe Champion, Cole Scarbrough, Jacob Turner, Josh Scarbrough, and Jackson Champion. Gordon, an entrepreneur and member of the Jaycees, was a long-time resident of Greensboro and the heart of Gordon's Menswear, where he took pride and joy in dressing Greensboro's finest. Gordon's Menswear is much more than a storefront. It is a place of community, kindness, and generosity. If he did not have a shirt to sell you, he would give you the shirt off his back. While Gordon was a dedicated and devoted businessman, his greatest legacy was his love and care for his family and friends. He was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church and cherished the fellowship of the Young Men's Bible class. The patriarch of his family, he showed them the power of Christ's love through his generosity, unfailing wisdom, and care for others. His eleven grandchildren have many precious memories of him, including the yearly trip when he singlehandedly took all of them and their friends skiing. Gordon loved life and was a true southern gentleman. He enjoyed nothing more than traveling with Becky, skiing, ACC basketball, and spending time with family and friends. To know Gordon was to be loved and cared for by him. A celebration of life will be held Sunday, February 25 at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Greensboro. Following the service, the family will receive friends in the VIrginia Gilmer Room at the church and later at the home. Donations in his memory may be made to Restoration Place, P.O. Box 38787, Greensboro, NC 27438 or to UNCG Spartans basketball. Online condolences may be made to www.forbisanddick.com.
