GREENSBORO ILEAN BERNICE Taylor, 91, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2015. She was born on February 5, 1924 to the late Isaac and Bessie Taylor in Green County, NC. She was raised in Wayne County and attended to Wayne County School system. She was the middle child of two sisters, the late Hiawatha Savage and late Esther Mae McNair.She married Webster Smith and from that union had one son James "Mickey" Smith. She and the family moved to Brooklyn, NY where she worked for Perfect Pearl Jeweler in Manhattan for many years making custom jewelry. Ilean graduated from beautician school and did hair on the weekend from her home. She attended Brown's business school in 1961 and received a certificate in IBM Key-Punch.After Ilean retired her proudest adventure was traveling across the country helping her son and his wife operate their McDonald's business. Her specialties in the restaurant to name a few was washing breakfast dishes, cleaning the lobby, counseling the young employees on proper work ethics and when necessary escorting the homeless out of the lobby. She always provided them a meal to go!She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her son, James Smith, Sr.(Debra), grandchildren Jeanette Tillman, James Smith, Jr.(Sandra) Danielle Smith, Adrian Smith & Monique Smith. great-grandchildren; Carol, Ecolia, Shanita, Jumoni, Aaryn, Andrew, Mason, and Maya, great-great grandchildren, Ajante Wilson, JaRey Miller, Jamauri Miller, Ahyland Friday, & niece Shirlene McNair and family.Browns Funeral is in charge of the arrangements.Service will be held Friday 7/31/15 at Providence Baptist Church 1106 Tuscaloosa St. Greensboro, NC.
