TRINITY MR. JACK DOUGLAS COLTRANE, SR., 86, OF TRINIty, NC, died Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Westwood Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Coltrane was born in Trinity on April 24, 1929, to Carl Hodgin and Carrie Blanche Coltrane. On June 22, 1951 he married Anita (Anne) Southern. He was a graduate of Trinity High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was a member of Archdale United Methodist Church and a former member of A-T Lions Club, where he served one term as president. He coached the A-T Lions Little League baseball team for several years. "J.D." retired as manufacturing manager of Burlington Industries Mayodan plant. After retirement, he worked part-time at Lowes Foods. He loved playing golf, working in his yard, and most of all, he loved his family. In addition to his parents, Mr. Coltrane was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Coltrane Marable; and brothers, Harold, David, Leroy, and Clarence.He is survived by his wife, Anne; three sons, Jack Coltrane Jr. (Julie), James Coltrane (Fran), and Donald Lee Coltrane; grandchildren, Misty Russo (Scott), Jack Coltrane III (Brandy), Carrie Coltrane, Luke Coltrane, David Marable, and Sarah Coltrane; step-grandchildren, Hollie Walser, Adam Pulliam, and Ashely Breedlove; and five great-grandchildren.A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Archdale United Methodist Church, 11543 N. Main Street, Archdale, NC, with Rev. Harold Shives presiding. The family will receive visitors following the service in the Wesley Room. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Archdale United Methodist Church, or Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Dr., High Point, NC 27262, or the charity of one's choice.The family would like to extend their appreciation to all the staff at Westwood for the care and support received from them.Arrangements by Midstate Cremation Service.
