James Mitchell Obituary
Reidsville - James Gordon "Jimmy" Mitchell, 67, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 21, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2022, at Thompsonville Baptist Church and inurnment will follow in Lowes United Methodist Church Cemetery.
A native of Rockingham Co., he was the son of the late William Gordon and Patricia Perkins Mitchell and lived in the Williamsburg community all his life. Jimmy was a real estate appraiser, co-owner of Gentry and Mitchell Real Estate and C&M Farms. He was a 1973 graduate of Reidsville Sr. High School, a 1978 graduate of NC State University where he was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. He was a proud member of the "supper club" and a proud spouse of a 7th Heaven UNCG girl. He was a past board member of the Reidsville YMCA, and a member of Lowes UMC, where he served on many committees. He was a member of the Rockingham Caswell Hunting Club, Greensboro Regional Realtors Association and previous president of the Reidsville Board of Realtors. He was a member of the band Kaulk, an Eagle Scout and a former Dancing Dad at Academy of Dance. He was an avid NC State fan, a talented water skier and a gifted musician. He loved music, his family, his friends, and Jesus with his whole heart. He especially loved being "Pop." He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, and a brother-in-law, Keith McCollum.
Surviving is his wife, Pam M. Mitchell of the home, daughters, Jaime M. Lambert (Nathan) of Dobson and Virginia Ann M. Pike (Adam) of Reidsville, sister, Bonnie M. Coleman (Eddie) of Reidsville, grandchildren, Leighton Pike and James "Jim" Pike, and many loving brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will see friends from 6 till 8 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2023, at Citty Funeral Home and at other times the family will be at the residence. The family asks that memorials be made to the Parkinson's Foundation 200 SE 1st St., Ste 800, Miami, FL 33131.
