Col. Swiggett, as I called him, was my backpacking instructor at UNCG. He made a meaningful impact on my young life. He introduced me to my love of the mountains. He introduced me to Mt Rogers VA and I remember him telling the backpacking class that if you make it to the top there is a snack bar with vending machines. There´s not even a view on the top of Mount Rogers. Godspeed Colonel.

He was my basketball coach @ UNC-G. I reconnected with him when I moved to Asheboro. He was a wonderful, kind man who always had time for his players. My condolences to the family.
