COLFAX Janet Brooks Sheffield, 85, of Colfax, NC, died unexpectedly after a short illness on February 27, at her home. Her life will be celebrated at a memorial service to be held at River Landing at Sandy Ridge, 1575 John Knox Drive, Colfax, NC. 27235 at a later date. A reception will be held for family and friends immediately following the service. Born on January 16, 1934 in Springfield, MA, Janet moved to Greensboro with her family in 1950. She graduated from Greensboro Senior High, attended Woman's College and was graduated from UNC-CH. She taught second grade in Lutherville, MD and at Wiley and Porter schools in Greensboro. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, AGAPE Sunday School Class and a former member of the Junior Woman's Club, the Symphony Guild, the O. Henry Study Club, the Greensboro Power Squadron and the Bonne Terre Garden Club. She enjoyed working in the yard, painting, crafts, reading and entertaining. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Dr. Neal Sheffield, Jr., son, Mark (Gail), daughter, Carol; grandchildren, Eliza and Richard Sheffield and brother, Don Brooks and several cousins nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Jeanette Bradley Brooks and Richard G. Brooks. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Presbyterian Homes Foundation, Inc., 2109 Sandy Ridge Rd., Colfax, NC 27235 or to Hope Academy, P.O.
