Jeffrey Held Obituary
November 1, 1942 - May 10, 2021
Jeffrey Edgar Held, 78, passed away Monday, May 10, 2021, at UNC-Rockingham Health Care in Eden.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 14, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Military honors will be rendered by Rockingham County Veteran's Honor Guard.
Born November 1, 1942 in Bridgeport, CT, Jeffrey was the son of the late Samuel Held and Berta Reich Held. He was a US Army veteran, having served in Vietnam. Jeff will be remembered for his sense of humor, warm and hearty laughter, kindness to all, his assortment of suspenders and his math homework help. Jeff and his family moved to Eden in 1990 for what became a long career at Fieldcrest as a computer programmer, a field he continued in after. He was active in his community as a member of Kiwanis and a volunteer for the American Red Cross and the homeless shelter. He and his wife Sharon adopted and cared for many rescue animals.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Mock Held of the home; four children, Samuel Held (Erica) of Tennessee, Rachael Mangum of Arlington, VA, Joshua Held (Samantha) of New York and Jessica Martin (Todd) of South Carolina; nine grandchildren; brother, Russell Held of Eden and Jonathan Held of Florida; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jules Held.
