John Myers Obituary

May 13, 1947-December 2, 2015Greensboro John L. Myers peacefully passed away on Wednesday, December 2 at his home after an extended illness.A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, December 7th at Westover Church in the Atrium, with visitation from 2 until 3 p.m. and the service at 3 p.m. Pastor Chris Hardy will be officiating.John was born on May 13, 1947 in Dixon, Illinois to Helen and M. Lyle Myers. John was dearly loved by his family, friends, and co-workers. A devoted husband and father, he always was involved in every detail of his sons lives; he loved, respected and supported his wife of 44 years. John's sense of humor, sincerity, hospitality, and kindness will be fondly remembered by all.He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, and worked in the travel industry for 40 years with Continental Airlines, Heritage Travel, Thomas Cook Travel, American Express Travel, and most recently Carlson Wagonlit Travel.He was a man of strong faith. As a firm believer in the strength and power of Jesus Christ's love, he knew the beauty and peace that would await him after his passing.Survivors include his treasured wife Kristine; sons David (wife Jennifer) and Darren (fiance Abby); grandson Benjamin, all of Harford, Connecticut; brother James J. (wife Elizabeth) and their children, husbands, and grandchildren, all of Norman, Oklahoma; sister-in-law Kathy Knight (husband Clark Allen) and son Henry, all of Rutland, Vermont.In lieu of flowers, memorials in John's memory may be made to the Global Missions Fund at Westover Church, 505 Muirs Chapel Road, Greensboro, North Carolina 27410 or to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 304, Chicago, Illinois.
