Joseph Bowman Obituary

GREENSBORO Joseph W. Bowman, 93, of Summer field passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, NC. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Forbis and Dick Guilford Chapel, 5926 W. Friendly Ave., Greensboro, NC 27410. The family will received friends at 12:00 noon prior to the service at the funeral home. Joseph was born April 22, 1924 in Guilford County to the late Thomas Wade Bowman and Cordie Davis Bowman. He was a proud veteran of the U. S. Navy and retired with 30 years service from the 3-M Corporation. He loved to play golf at Bryan Park and was a lover of animals. Surviving are a son, Joseph Wade Bowman, Jr.; two daughters, Shelley Neiner, and Sherry McKelvey (Bob); 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; also surviving are his companion of 25 years, Chris Lane, and her family members, Kim Zerfoss, Zack Zerfoss, Riley Zerfoss, and Joe Lane. Memorial contributions may be given to the Humane Society of the Piedmont, 4527 W. Wendover Ave., Greensboro, NC 27409. Forbis and Dick Guilford Chapel is serving the Bowman family and online condolences may be offered at www.forbisanddick.com.
