Worked with Max in the 80’s at Food Town. He was the most respected man I ever had the pleasure and honer to work with in my nearly 49 year history in retail.

Growing up in the country (as it was then), my mom and dad always raised a big garden. I so fondly remember taking produce that I reluctantly helped gather, to the grocery store and selling it to "Mr Max". He was a kind, gentle, generous soul whom I had a lot of respect and admiration for. He may be gone now, but his blessings will never be forgotten. Thoughts and Prayers....

As a young 16 year old boy, Mr. Coltrane hired me as a bag boy, stocker, and eventually cashier at Food Town (Food Lion). He put up with my antics, taught me a strong work ethic and cared about me. At 61 years old today, I am grateful and thank God for the opportunity to have worked for Max Coltrane. He was a blessing to me.
