REIDSVILLE KENNETH DARRELL KEN HANKS, 61, OF REidsville, NC went to be with the Lord Wednesday January 21, 2015 at his home.Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Covington Memorial Wesleyan Church. Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens.A native of Rockingham County, he was a son of the late Zollie William and Lois Hennis Hanks and had lived most of his life in Rockingham County. He was a retired Captain of Detectives with the Reidsville Police Department, where he had worked 30 years, and for the past 2 years he had served as Director of Security at Rockingham Community College. He attended Covington Memorial Wesleyan Church and enjoyed riding his motorcycle, dancing, and golfing. Ken loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his wife, daughters, and grandchildren.Survivors include his wife of 10 years Sandra Strader Hanks, daughters: Vallere H. Shelton and husband P.G, Suzanne H. Lang and husband Dave, Kenzie Hanks and boyfriend William Etheridge, step-daughters: Megan Hunter and husband Jeff, and Mandy Anderson, brothers: Larry Hanks and wife Judy, Barry Hanks and wife Tina, In-Laws: Ken and Barbara Strader, aunt: Ernestine "Teenie" Taylor, nieces Hillary Hanks and Kristin Lester and husband Joey, 5 grandchildren: Ian, Zollie, Ceirdwyn, Eowyn, and Micah Shelton, future grandson Liam Lang.The family will see friends 6 till 8 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2015 at Covington Memorial Wesleyan Church and at other times will be at the residence.
