Kitty Vernon Obituary
The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2025 in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Roy Carter and Pastor Jon White officiating. Burial will follow in Mayodan Municipal Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Ms. Vernon was born on October 12, 1941 in Rockingham County to the late William Penn Still and Mary Catherine Davis Still. For many years, Kitty worked in textiles and in her later years she worked at K-Mart and Madison Pharmacy. She was a member of Woodbine Baptist Church. Kitty will forever be remembered for her sincere love for her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Benjamin Vernon.
Survivors include her son, Mark Vernon (Annette); daughter, Cathy Nelson (Randy); grandchildren, Matthew Nelson (Ammie), Leigh Nelson, Amber Nelson Morphies (Johnny), Michael Vernon and Michelle Duncan (Tyler); nine great-grandchildren and sister, Linda Wilson (Danny).
The family would like to thank her caregivers, Amanda Gusler, Stephanie Fulton and Tracy Herman for their love and attentive care.
