Linda Owens Shaw

May 30, 1940 - March 16, 2025

Linda Owens Shaw, 84, died peacefully Sunday, March 16, 2025, at Friends Homes Guilford Whittier Nursing Center, surrounded by family, friends, and a wonderful nursing staff. She loved her family, her community, and took comfort in her Lord and Savior.

Linda was born May 30, 1940, to Elborn and Cassie Owens of Jamestown, NC. She attended Jamestown High and High Point Central High.

Linda was a lifelong Republican and public servant. She spent 16 years as a Guilford County Commissioner, two of those years as chairman. She served as NC RNC National Committeewoman from 1992 to 2004, and Secretary of the 2000 RNC National Convention.

She was involved in many organizations including as a board member of the Triad Economic Development Partnership, Piedmont Airport Authority, NC Museum of Art, YMCA of Greensboro, American Red Cross, and Regional Triad Film Commission, to name a few. She was honored to receive The Order of the Long Leaf Pine and the Stanley Frank Economic Development Award.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G (Bob) Shaw; her beloved son, Kyle Chilton; parents, Elborn and Cassie Owens; her sister, Joyce Andrews; and two brothers, Don and Richard Owens.

She leaves behind her daughter, Joni Chilton Moffitt (Bruce); cherished grandsons, Kevin and Ryan Moffitt; best friend, Sharon Sands (and Linda's dog Sammy); special friend, Tom Davis; sister-in-law, Gwen Owens; numerous loved cousins, nieces and nephews; stepdaughter, Barbara Shaw Twining (Jim); four step-grandsons; and her special Woolman Hall 5th floor friends.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the caring staff at Friends Homes Guilford, the Whittier nursing staff, "momma's PT girls" and AuthoraCare Hospice Services for their special care.

A celebration of life will take place Monday, March 31st, at Friends Homes Guilford Campus, Woolman Hall, 925 New Garden Rd, Greensboro, NC 27410. Visitation at 2 p.m., Service at 3 p.m.
