GREENSBORO Mary Rayle Osborne, 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 6, 2017, surrounded by her family. Mary was born on July 7, 1928 in Greensboro to the late Miriam Alford-Wilmouth Rayle and Robert E. Rayle, Sr. After spending many of her early adult years as a homemaker with her husband and children, she worked as the food service supervisor at Curry High School and later went on to be the residence life supervisor at UNCG for twenty-seven years. For the many that knew Mary Cleo, Tad, Maw Maw and Grandma, it was apparent that her greatest pride and personal achievement was her family. Her joy as this matriarch was noted during family gatherings, celebrations and even simple visits in her home from her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. People were drawn to her unyielding positivity and her pure compassionate love. Although she had been through immeasurable pain and sadness, she always saw the best of life and cherished her family above all else. She is survived by her daughters Gail (Charlie) Davis and Jo Ann Allred, son-in-law Michael Melton, daughter-in-law Esther Osborne, brothers Robert E. Rayle, Jr. and William Rayle and sister Evelyn Showfety. Maw Maw, as she proudly called herself, also leaves behind twelve grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren, as well as a host of extended family and very dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life of 58 years, Carl C. Osborne, Jr. and two of her beloved children, Susan Melton and Greg Osborne. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at Forbis and Dick, N. Elm Street. Memorial Service will be on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the Forbis and Dick, N. Elm Street Chapel. Internment will follow at Shady Grove Wesleyan Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Wesleyan Church. Online condolences may be made at www.forbisanddick.com.
