MICHAEL ROBERT SPANGLER WINSTON-SALEM Michael Robert Spangler, 56, of Oak Ridge, N.C., died March 23, 2014 after a heart attack. He is survived by his wife Andrea, daughter Lilia and son Calder. Also surviving is his mother Lilia Spangler of McLean, VA., his brother Richard of Cary, N.C., and his sister Ann Marie Tetreault of Vienna, VA. A passionate art teacher for 20 years at Mount Tabor High School, he loved his vocation and brought a creative twist to all that he did. He told stories of Spain travels, childhood romps and mischievous adventures. He loved life and brought everyone along for the ride. Memorial services are 1 p.m. March 29, 2014 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 520 Summit Street, Winston-Salem, N.C., 27101. Memorial contributions may be made to The Visual Arts Department at Mount Tabor High School and The Humane Society.
