Minerva Westgard Obituary

Minerva "Minnie" Westgard, 90, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025, in Lindenhurst, NY, after facing pancreatic cancer with quiet strength.

Born on November 13, 1934, in Puerto Rico to Geraldo and Eva Kercado, Minnie's life was a tapestry woven with devotion, resilience, and deep familial love. She shared many years of marriage with her beloved husband, Asbjorn Johan Westgard, until his passing in 1979. Their union brought forth a family whose roots now stretch across generations.

Minnie's memory lives on through her children: Andor Westgard, Peter Westgard, Evie Sosna, and Ingrid Westgard; daughters-in-law Valerie and Sharon Westgard and Isabel Martinez; sons-in-law Anthony Triolo, Daniel Dore, and Hamid Rashidi. Her love continues through her grandchildren-Jennifer Zylberberg, Peter Westgard, Jennifer Drago, Karianne Westgard, Analyse Lewis, Alyssa Triolo, and Daniel Westgard-and great-grandchildren: Aaron, Julia, Lilianna, Avery, Colette, Riley, Bennett, and Sophia. She is also lovingly remembered by her sister Jeannette Kercado and a wide circle of extended family and cherished friends.

She reunites in peace with those who went before her: her husband Asbjorn; infant daughter Karen; daughter Diane Triolo; son Robert Westgard; and grandson Anthony Navarro.

Minnie was a devoted member of First Lutheran Church before returning to New York. Her faith was the foundation upon which she built her life-a quiet beacon that guided her every step.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Lutheran Church at 3600 W. Friendly Ave., Greensboro, NC 27410.

Our minds will still talk to you. Our hearts still look for you. But our souls know you're at peace.

In loving memory of my Grandma Minnie -
I will always remember her infectious laugh, her resilient spirit, and the way she gathered all of us into a close-knit family. She taught us how to show up for one another, how to face life with grace and with grit. She taught us how to love without reservation. I´m grateful to have been shaped by her strength and her joy. May we all follow her example and live each day to the absolute fullest. I will think of you every time I see a yellow rose.

With Love,

Minnie was one of my most special TOPS friends. She will be sorely missed! We had some very wonderful times at our TOPS Stare Recognition Days. She was always up for an adventure and was a joy to spend time with. Rest well my friend.

Love you Titi (aunt) Minerva Westgard.. I'm still trying to figure out how I am able to go on without hearing your voice or your infectious laugh. Asking you for advice and help when it comes to crocheting. Having those moments of sitting down on the chair crocheting with you while we watched Old Law and Order episodes or game shows over the summers I wasn't in school. Our dates to the Cherry pit Cafe. And the cards that you always send that I always look forward to for my birthday or the holidays. The world is definitely missing a big piece without you in it. You were a big piece to this family and we will never forget you I will always carry the memories that I was able to have with you. Rest in peace and welcome home

Minnie you were the sweetest person, kind, gracious and loving. I feel so privileged to have met you through the Dominoe Ladies. You made me feel like one of the bunch right from our first time meeting y´all. I´m so glad I came up from South Carolina this summer to see you. I will miss you always! Love to you from Ron and Esther
