Sharpe, Molene
Molene Pegg Sharpe, 97, of Burlington, passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side on Friday, October 28, 2022. She was born August 22, 1925, to Sallie and Jabez Edgar Pegg, both deceased. Molene was the dedicated wife of the late Bynum Bernard Sharpe, with whom she shared 50 years of marriage before his death in 1993.
In addition to Bynum, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Bynum Douglas Sharpe, Jr., her brothers, Jabez Edgar Pegg, Jr., and Donald Wayne Pegg. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Ardeth Sharpe, Eleanor Guthrie, Laura Mae Shoffner, and Rebecca Costner.
She was the proud mother of seven children: Rickey Sharpe (Connie) of Burlington, Doug Sharpe, Sr. (Brenda) of Burlington, Patsy Phillips (Don) of Greensboro, Terrie Chriscoe of Burlington, Portia Dumond (Paul) of Florida, Lou Ann Brown (Lawson) of Burlington, and William Sharpe of Burlington. She also leaves behind 18 devoted grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. Molene has numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives who were dear to her heart.
Molene was a lifelong member of Low's Lutheran Church and a faithful servant of God. She was founder and president of Bynum Sharpe Motors and Marlene Mobile Homes, which flourished under her leadership. In addition to her commitment to God, church, family, and work, she will be remembered as the family matriarch admired for her strength, resilience, beauty and loving nature.
Molene was a revered member of the Alamance County community and served as North Carolina president of the American War Mothers and on the advisory board at the Veterans Hospital in Durham, NC. She also served many years as an election official and supported activities and fundraisers for her beloved Alamance Battleground community. She loved bluegrass music, traveling, helping others, and was known by her family for her artistic ability.
The family is grateful to Terrie who assumed the primary responsibility for taking care of Mom. The family thanks caregivers: Jackie Fox, Celestyne Holt, Denise Brown, and the staff of AuthoraCare Hopice.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 4, 2022, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rich & Thompson Funeral Service in Burlington, NC. Funeral Service and burial will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022, 2 p.m., at Low's Lutheran Church. Following the burial, a reception will be held in the fellowship hall.

Everyone who knew Molene was touched by her radiant smile, compassionate heart, and love for life. We will continue to carry our mother's legacy and memories in our hearts forever.
