Nancy Currie Obituary

Nancy Louise Currie

November 8, 1940 - October 25, 2024

Nancy Louise Currie, 83, of Jamestown, North Carolina passed away peacefully on Friday, October 25, 2024 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina, surrounded by family.

Nancy was born on November 8, 1940 in Springfield, Missouri to the late Marjorie Wilson and William Charles "Bill" Pauly. She graduated from Central High School in Springfield and married her High School sweetheart, Henry Martin, the following December on Christmas Day. Together they raised two children as they moved across the country from California to Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, New York, and Pennsylvania.

In November 1992, Nancy married Thomas Currie and upon his retirement, they relocated to Oak Island, North Carolina. They spent many years travelling the world, often taking their family with them on cruises.

Throughout her life, Nancy was passionate about athletics, as an avid tennis player and golfer. Nancy was also very involved in her artistic pursuits, enjoying painting and pottery, continuing to learn new things about her craft. In all of these, Nancy made and kept in touch with her friends.

Her thoughtfulness and generosity were a blessing to everyone she met.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas D. Currie, her brother William "Billy" Pauly, her stepfather Kenneth Coffelt, and a stepson John D. Currie.

Nancy is survived by a daughter Vicki Dorman (Neal), a son John Martin, stepdaughter Nancy Currie, stepson Neil Currie (Beth), grandsons Clay Dorman, Tanner Dorman, Lance Dorman, Ryan Martin, and Graham Currie. We also need to mention her beloved schnauzer, Snickers.

A service of remembrance will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 8 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Our hearts are absolutely broken to hear this news today. Nancy, Tom and Snickers were our next door neighbors here in Southport. We just adored Nancy and Snickers and enjoyed helping them out whenever they needed it. Nancy was a spitfire with boundless energy and always had a smile for all that she met.
We are so incredibly sorry for the loss of this wonderful woman. We´re sure Snickers must miss her so much. Please give Snickers a snuggle from us.
Our condolences go out to Nancy´s entire family.

I am so sorry for the loss of Nancy. I was blessed to have known her. She is one of the nicest ladies I’ve ever met and the thought of her will always bring a smile to my face.
