Nancy Oliphant Obituary

Nancy Oliphant

March 31, 1936 - June 26, 2025

Nancy Shelton Oliphant, 89, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025 in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Born on March 31, 1936, in Oak Ridge, North Carolina, Nancy was the daughter of Charlie Shelton and Bessie Shelton. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, James Oliphant; and her sisters Frances Comito and Ellen Hackett.

A devoted homemaker for nearly seven decades, Nancy dedicated her life to nurturing her family. Together with James, she raised three children creating a home filled with spirit and love.

Nancy found joy in the simple things of life. She worked alongside her husband, who raised a garden. She took pride in preserving the fruits of their labor. Her kitchen often overflowed with the comforting aromas of meals prepared from homegrown produce.

Travel brought Nancy much pleasure. She enjoyed bus tours along the eastern coast with James and their son Kenneth. Summers were marked by trips to Atlanta Braves games.

Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. Nancy was an active member of Restoration at the Rock Church in Greensboro, where she gave generously of her time through Vacation Bible School, Transportation Ministry, Women's Missionary Union, and preparing meals for fellow members.

Nancy is survived by her children, Keith Oliphant (Lisa), Kenneth Oliphant, Rebekah Hall (Michael); grandchildren, Amber (Kevin), Andrew (Kim), Aaron (Katie), Kory, Liam, and Nathaniel, as well as her great-grandchildren Noelle, Michaela, Luke, Tyson, Landrie and Remington; and great-great-granddaughter Addison.

A memorial service to celebrate Nancy's life will be held at a later date. Her gentle spirit and unwavering love will continue to inspire all who knew her.
