OAK RIDGE Nathan Robert Filer, 22, passed away Monday, March 26, 2018. Nathan was born on January 13, 1996, in Rutherford County. Nathan loved his family and friends and was the most loyal friend a person could have. He had a heart bigger than him and a captivating laugh that could always make someone smile. Nathan was a huge fan of the Carolina Tarheels and loved music of many genres. Nathan was preceded in death by his grandfather, Terry Filer; grandmother, Denise Stacy; paternal great-grandparents, Roy and Patricia Sutton; maternal great-grandparents, Albert and Thelma Simpson, and Peggy Brothers; his great-aunt, Norma Green; and a cousin, Christopher Sutton. Surviving are his mother, Erica Twiddy (husband, Tom); his father, Chadwick Filer (wife, Gretchen); three brothers, Jacob Twiddy, Bryce Filer, and Tom Twiddy, Jr.; grandparents, Joey and Patricia Smith, and Paul Simpson; great-grandmother, Kay Filer; three aunts, Sherry Beam (Stacy), April Hanes (John), and April Sheehan (Warren); many special cousins, aunt, nieces and nephews; and a close childhood friend, Chase Milam, who was like a brother to Nathan. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2018, at Central Baptist Church in Oak Ridge with Dr. Roy Carter, Rev. Paul Simpson, and Pastor Seth Parnell officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 until 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
