Winston-Salem — Patricia Dare Williams, age 60, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 9, 2021.

Trish was born in Reidsville, North Carolina on July 31, 1961. She resided there for most of her younger years, attended Reidsville High School and graduated in the class of 1979. She is an alumna of Appalachian State University and graduated in 1983 with a degree in business. Her hobbies were many and included photography, tennis, radio announcer and DJ, and kayaking. In college she was active in the Wesley Foundation, a campus movement, and created many lifelong friends at ASU. Upon graduation she worked tirelessly in the furniture industry, marketing, and home decor. She played an important role in the annual High Point Furniture Market and produced the Dare2Market brochure for attendees. Trish had the incomparable gift of making business contacts who became her friends. While they were also her workmates, she was concerned about their well-being and their families. Some of these relationships lasted her entire life.

Trish was the daughter of Virginia Dare Strader Williams and Arlee Williams. She is survived by her only brother Lynn Williams and wife Tricia Averett Williams of Cumming, Georgia. Her nephews are Michael A. Williams, of Santa Monica, California and Matthew A. (Holly) Williams of Wyncote, Pennsylvania. Trish found special joy in her great niece, her name-sake, Sutton Ava Dare Williams, and brother Callen Averett-Thomas Williams. Trish could be called a "friend's friend." She considered her friends to be her family of her own choosing.

No other fan could have been more dedicated to their alma mater than Trish. Her pleasure was unmeasured during football season and seeing her beloved Appalachian State Mountaineers on the field. Her personal calendar was based on "how many days 'til game day." She especially enjoyed a ball game accompanied by a delicious Dr. Pepper.

All her life Trish loved reading and history. She took a special interest in family genealogy. She studied records, researched through countless conversations and took trips to substantiate her findings. As of late she was interested in oneirology.

A celebration of life was held for Trish on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at the Mission First United Methodist Church.

Trish further strengthened her faith during her association with the ASU Wesley foundation where students encountered God. There she was engaged in a life-giving community and grew as a disciple of Jesus Christ. When she first moved to Winston-Salem she was an active member of Mount Tabor UMC. She also enjoyed joining family in Reidsville at Mizpah United Methodist Church for worship and special occasions. Known by friends as "genuine," Trish appreciated the same trait in others. She always wore a brave and happy face. She was always part of the fun, well-loved and well-connected.
