PAUL VIRGIL LEMONS STOKESDALE Paul Virgil Lemons, 87, went home to be with his Lord on October 15, 2013 at Countryside Manor in Stokesdale. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday in the Forbis & Dick Brooke Chapel with Elder Milton Gunter officiating. Burial will follow in the Stokesdale Christian Church cemetery. Mr. Lemons was born February 9, 1926, to the late Henry Virgil and Jessie Friddle Lemons and lived in the Stokesdale area all of his life. He served in World War II as an Army paratrooper and was in Germany. He was employed many years as a mechanic, serving several employers, and retired from the NC State Department of Transportation in 1986. He loved auto racing, boating, skiing, fishing, hunting, golfing and listening to Bluegrass music, gardening and basically anything outdoors. He was a member of Walnut Cove Primitive Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon since 1986. On November 27, 1946, he married Violet Tuttle who survives him. He is also survived by two daughters, Karen Landreth of Stokesdale and Marilyn Turner (Mike) of Stokesdale, three grand-children, Tiffany Landreth of Stokesdale, Chad Turner (Amanda) of Indian Trail, Casey Turner of Stokesdale (Lauren Fannin, fianc?e of Summerfield), one great grand-daughter, Addison and baby boy Turner of Indian Trail. He also has one sister-in-law, Thelma Lemons, of Walkertown. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by brothers, Van, Harold, Rex and Lee and sisters Annie Jewell Foulks and Margaret York. The family will receive friends this evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at he funeral home and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to the church c/o Faye Kiger at 6569 Baux Mountain Road, Germanton, NC 27019. The family expresses much gratitude to the doctors and staff at Countryside Manor for their loving care and attention shown to Mr. Lemons in the last months.
