Randy Middleton Obituary
January 24, 1962 - January 25, 2023
MADISON - Randy Dean Middleton, 61, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at his earthly home in Madison and is now at home with his Heavenly Father.
A celebration of life and homecoming service for Randy will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 4 at Colonial Funeral Home in Madison with Reverend Darrell Freeman presiding. Interment will follow at the Middleton Family Cemetery, New Hope Baptist Church in Stokesdale.
Randy was an only child born in Rockingham County, NC, on January 24, 1962 to the late Gustavus Adolphus "Gus" Middleton Jr. and Jacqueline Bradshaw Handy. He began working at Byrd's Supermarket in Madison while he was in high school and enjoyed a career in that industry until retiring from Harris Teeter. Randy was a lifelong bachelor; however, he had a large extended family with many cousins, numerous friends and his church family at Stokesdale Baptist Church.
Even though he had no children of his own, Randy was a very proud, dedicated and devoted godfather of 17 years to Leila, Bella, Steven and Aiden Cooper. He was always a consistent and welcome part of their lives. He chaperoned many fieldtrips, visited the McDonald's Play Place too many times to count and sat at afterschool games. He always took interest in what each of the kids had going on. He was also a brother and friend of 25 years to their parents, Henry and April Cooper.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, the Reverend Roy Franklin Bradshaw and Bessie Mae Moore Bradshaw, Gustavus Adolphus Middleton Sr. and Mary Jane Lemons Middleton.
He is survived by numerous cousins and lifelong friends who will miss him greatly but will fondly remember him and carry his memory.
For those wishing to pay respects privately, the register will be available to sign on Friday between 9 to 5 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, Randy had asked that memorial donations be made to the Stokesdale Baptist Church, PO Box 101, Stokesdale, NC 27357.
