Rebecca Paff Obituary

Paff, Rebecca "Becky" Susan Carter

January 21, 1949 - February 17, 2024

Rebecca Susan (Becky) Carter Paff, 75, of Tobaccoville, NC, passed away on February 17, 2024, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center after an illness of about a year.

Becky was born January 21, 1949, to Binford (Ben) and Mary Sue Young Carter of Madison, NC. She grew up in Madison with her older brother, the late Benny Carter, and many cousins on what had been her Carter grandparents' tobacco farm. In that small-town atmosphere, she learned to love dogs, horses and other animals as well as the outdoors.

A graduate of Elon University with a master's degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Becky was dedicated to her career as a public-school English teacher until her retirement. She first taught in Columbia, on the Albemarle Sound in Eastern North Carolina. She moved to Stokes County schools, where she taught for many years at South Stokes High School in Walnut Cove, and, later, at Chestnut Grove Middle School in King.

Becky and Rick soon began showing and raising Jack Russell terriers at Long Creek Jack Russell Terriers in Tobaccoville. They bred a select few dogs, keeping outstanding ones to show and finding good homes for the ones they could not keep. Becky's dogs earned seventeen national titles over the years, including the 2017 national champion Best Open Terrier.

Becky married the love of her life, Rick Paff, on December 27, 1992.

Becky is survived by her loving husband of thirty-two years, Rick Paff, and several mournful Jack Russell terriers.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Sardis Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Madison with Rev. Leslie Brewer officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Jack Russell Terrier Club of America, PO Box 4527 Lutherville, MD 21094.

I´m so sorry to hear about Becky´s passing. She gave me the best gift of my life, my perfect JRT Pippi (daughter of Sashay and Moonshine). Only a great lady could raise such wonderful dogs. Sending my condolences to her family.

I'm so sorry to hear about Becky. No one loved JRs more or had the best dogs... we loved our Sir Raleigh and was shocked he and his brother passed the same day. Becky was a lovely lady, and she'll be missed.
