Grubb, Richard Barry

March 10, 1959 - June 18, 2022

Richard Barry Grubb, age 63, was born in Greensboro, North Carolina on March 10, 1959 to Wilma and Richard N. Grubb. Barry is also survived by his wife, Wendie K. Grubb; his incredible children Savannah, Brianna, Nicholas and William Grubb; sister and kidney donor, Cheryl Drye and husband Devin; and nephews, Eric Drye and his wife Shannon and Chad Drye. He is survived by loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Barry is also survived by his NCSHP, Alamance Community Fire Department Family and his EMS family.

Barry was a loving husband for 22 years. He knew the Lord and is now resting in paradise. Barry dedicated his life to the service of his family, his community and his state and made such an impact on so many lives, in so many ways. He was a telecommunicator for the North Carolina State Highway Patrol and retired with 30 years of service. He was a lifelong member and brother of the Alamance Community Fire Department and retired with 20 years of service. He was an EMT with the fire department, Guilford County EMS as well as with the highway patrol. Barry was the proud recipient of the Order of the Long Leaf Pine award, the North Carolina governor's highest award. He was a member of the NCSHP Critical Incident Debriefing Team and the recipient of numerous prestigious awards. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alamance Community Fire Department, Shriners Burn Center, the First Responders Children's Foundation and Alamance Presbyterian Church.

The family will be holding a celebration of life followed by an opportunity of fellowship with his family and friends. Services will held be at Alamance Presbyterian Church, 4000 Presbyterian Rd., Greensboro, NC 27406, Friday, June 24, 2022 at 2 p.m. with Reverend Dr. Kyle Goodman officiating.
