Robert Baynes Obituary

Robert Lindsey Baynes

November 18, 1948 - August 12, 2024

Robert Lindsey Baynes, fondly known as Bobby, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2024, in Guilford County, NC. He was born on November 18, 1948, in the same county, and lived a fulfilling life of 75 years.

Bobby proudly served as an attorney in the law industry, where he dedicated his career to justice and helping others. Outside of his professional life, Bobby had a rich array of interests that brought him great joy and satisfaction. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed working on puzzles, and loved watching sports. His passion for baseball extended into teaching the sport, and he also took pleasure in playing softball. Bobby had a special place in his heart for animals, particularly his beloved dog, Snuggles, and he was a devoted reader and obsessive recycler.

He is preceded in death by his father, Howard Franklin Baynes; mother, Bettie Clark; step-father, Fred Clark; sisters, Joanne McCaskill and Frankie Baynes; and brother, Tony Clark.

Bobby leaves behind a legacy of love and memories cherished by his surviving family and friends, including his daughters, Elizabeth Baynes (Kelly McSweeney) and Lynn Baynes; his grandson, Grayson McSweeney; brothers, Michael Baynes and David Clark; and a host of nieces and nephews who will deeply miss him.

A celebration of Bobby's life will be held on Wednesday, August 21st, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Triad Cremation & Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a cause close to Bobby's heart.

Bobby's warmth, kindness, and dedication will be remembered always.

Bobby was one of those guys I was always glad to see when we met. He lightened up the day with his humor, quick laugh, and understanding. I've missed seeing him these past years and I am very sorry to hear of his passing.

Bobby Baynes was a brother from another mother to me and my brother, Steve. We share so many wonderful childhood memories with Bobby. He was a part of our family. He attended family and high school reunions and everyone was always so happy to see him. He will be so missed and we loved him so. Rest in peace, my brother.
