Robert Cooley Obituary

Cooley, Robert "Bob" Jackson

Robert "Bob" Jackson Cooley, of Greensboro passed away May 30, 2024 at the age of 78, in his home surrounded by family, which was his wish. Bob was born on August 16, 1945, in Deland, Florida, the son of the late Jack and Mildred Cooley. Growing up in Coalwood WVa and Hillsville, Va.

Bob is survived by his devoted wife and love of his life, Marsha Cooley, brother Jerry Cooley (Joyce), his loving children Corey Cooley (Stephanie) and Penny Loschin (John), his adored grandchildren Nicholas Loschin, Ainsley Cooley, and Ryland Cooley.

His service in the Navy took him to numerous countries, including Italy and Spain, where he proudly represented his country.

He also followed in his father's footsteps, as well as several family members, in the education setting for a short while.

Professionally, Bob was a legend in the automotive industry, selling cars for over 50 years with unparalleled expertise and integrity. He began his career with Link-Smith Ford, which later became Bob Dunn Ford and then Capital Hyundai/Subaru.

He sold Ford, Sherrod Vans, Subaru to Hyundai, Triumph to Saab to Jaguar.

Bob sold cars to generation after generation among families. You have heard of the seven ways of Kevin Bacon, there is also the seven ways of Bob Cooley. You could talk to just about anyone who knows someone, who knows someone who bought a car from Bob. He was a true salesman to the very end, even in the hospital, handing out business cards. His commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Bob's passions were as varied as they were deep. He had an insatiable love for NASCAR Racing, finding joy in the thunderous roar of engines and the thrill of competition. He found solace and serenity by the ocean, where he reveled in the sun, sand, and the music of the beach. An enthusiast of beach music and shagging with his wife. He cherished his time with family, especially his grandchildren, always supporting and encouraging them in pursuit of their dreams.

A dedicated member of Guilford College United Methodist Church, Bob exemplified kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith throughout his life.

Bob's passing leaves a void in the lives of those who knew him, but his memory will forever be cherished. He touched countless lives with his warmth, tireless work ethic and commitment, leaving behind a legacy that will endure for generations to come.

Bob's spirit will continue to shine bright in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A celebration of Bob's life will be held at Guilford College United Methodist Church, where friends and family will gather to honor his memory and share stories of his remarkable life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart Association and Alzheimer's Association, in honor of Bob's compassionate spirit and commitment to helping others.

A Celebration of Life Service for Bob will be held Thursday, June 6, 2024, Guilford College United Methodist Church, 1205 Fleming Rd. Greensboro, NC 27410. The family will receive friends with a visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. and the Celebration of Life service beginning at 4:30 p.m. A Reception will follow the service.

Thank you to everyone that helped Bob during his time of need and showered him with abundant love and support. From the staff at Moses Cone Hospital to members of GCUM Church, his Sunday School Class to friends, co-workers, and family. Your thoughts, prayers, outpouring of love and concern for Bob as well as Marsha has been overwhelming and heartfelt.

I have fond memories of Bobby from past Cooley reunions. He was a humble person who was always glad to see me. I never thought that last year's August reunion would be the last time I would see him in this world. I lift all family in prayer in your grief. As a Christian, he is in much better condition than we are. I especially remember Marsha in prayer.

Bob was such a wonderful man. The best car salesman I have ever met. He was a gentleman and took care of his customers. May God be with you during this sad time.
