Romey Williams Obituary

THOMASVILLE Romey 'Sonny' Cameron Williams, Jr., 80, formerly of Reidsville, NC, and Davenport, FL, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, August 12, 2017. He was born June 19, 1937, in Statesville, NC, to the late Romey 'Rome' Cameron Williams, Sr. and Vallie M. Isley Williams. Sonny graduated from Albemarle High School in Charlottesville, VA, in 1955. He then attended Randolph Macon College in Asheland, VA, graduating in 1959 with a BA in English. There he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, serving as President his senior year. Sonny was a Financial Advisor for 44 years and was with JC Bradford and Co. for 34 of those years. He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Reidsville for 58 years. A loving husband, father, Pop and great-grandfather, he will be deeply missed. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Ann Barlow Williams; two daughters, Amy Williams Owens and husband Jeff, and Sherri Andrews Walker and husband Ronald; six grandchildren: Brian Philip Walker and wife Crystal, Jennifer Lynn Walker Starnes and husband Cameron, Jordan Grace Owens and husband Matt Northrup, Gage Conner Owens and fianc? Katie Carter, Chase Williams Owens and Ansley Lynn Owens; and four great grandchildren, Abigal Grace Starnes, Camdyn Elizabeth Starnes, Lucas Philip Walker and Shelby Lee Walker. In addition to his parents, Sonny was preceded in death by his brother, William 'Bill' E. Williams. A celebration of Sonny's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 14, 2017, at Main Street United Methodist Church, 221 South Main St., Reidsville, NC, with Rev. Bob Kerr and Rev. John Burton officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Dr., High Point, NC 27262. Arrangements by Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.
