GREENSBORO MARY RUTH TUCKER SHREVE PASSED peacefully while sleeping Friday, September 11, 2015, two days after celebrating her 87th birthday.Proud of have been born and raised in Mayodan, N.C., Ruth graduated from Mayodan School in 1945. The next day, she went to work in Washington Mills as a button sewer. Seven years later, she enrolled in and completed a secretarial course at King's Business College. She spent her working career as a highly respected and sought after secretary in the construction field. She worked for H.L. Coble, King-Hunter, and James M. Pleasant Construction companies and retired from N. C. Monroe Construction Company. She will forever be remembered and respected as an independent, strong woman who would fiercely protect her husband, children, and granddaughters. She was their greatest example of love, support, encouragement, and comfort in all situations. Her entire life's mission was to love her family. She was always heard saying she was the richest person on earth because of the blessings of her family. Her hobbies included anything that involved her family: listening about their day, celebrating their victories, playing kickball in the back yard, mending a garment, or cooking a favorite meal. She loved attending functions at Cornerstone Baptist Church and singing praises to God her Savior. Left to carry on her legacy are those who loved her most - her husband of over 60 years Carl Shreve, son Carlan Shreve, daughter Amy Scott and son-in-law Wayne, and granddaughters Nikki Edwards and Kasi Edwards. Her family rejoices that she is now reunited with her parents Troy and Anna Tucker, brothers Gene and Perry Tucker, sister Sarah Lawson, granddaughter Melissa Dawn Edwards, and other family and friends who preceded her in death. The family would like to extend its gratitude to the many people who touched Mama's life through the services of Hospice of Rockingham County. They loved and cared for her as if she were their own mother. For that, we are eternally grateful. In keeping with her final wishes, there will be no formal visitation or service.Donations in her memory will be greatly appreciated to: Hospice of Rockingham County, PO Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375; Ruff Love Rescue, PO Box 2013, Thomasville, NC 27361.
