Sally Aurelia Parr Belcher was born April 18, 1939 in Lynchburg, Virginia and passed away peacefully on December 23rd, 2023 surrounded by her husband, children and 8 grandchildren. Sally lived her final year under the care of the devoted staff at Pennybyrn. The family will be forever grateful for the loving hands who helped her family walk her home during that time.

Sally was the daughter of Christine Carter Parr and Mayo Julian Parr. She was raised in Piney River, Virginia then attended Radford College and Phillips Business School. She met the love of her life and husband of 64 years, James W. Belcher, and was married in 1959. She lived a life of service and held positions in volunteer organizations in each place she lived. She was a talented dental assistant in both Glenmoore, Pennsylvania and Baltimore, Maryland. Sally was a cherished Women's Hospital of Greensboro volunteer, known for her humor and commitment to others and was a member of St. John's Anglican Church in Greensboro, NC.

Sally was a devoted mother and wife and had a gift for making lifelong friends wherever she lived. She spent her life dedicated to her family and her community. She was a gifted homemaker. She will be long remembered for her many recipes that are cherished and shared by all who knew her. Sally was an impeccable woman who was loved by many. Her home and heart were always open, especially with a delicious meal or a kind word of encouragement. Her sense of humor, zest for life and unfailing optimism were contagious.

In addition to her husband, Sally is survived by her children: James W. Belcher Jr (Desiree) of Greensboro, NC; Kimberley Belcher Harvey (widow of Joseph Harvey) of Newton, NC; Elizabeth Belcher Riley (Benjamin) of Summerfield, NC.. Sally was a treasured volunteer and friend... If you needed a smile all you had to do was find Sally in the WHOG Sweet Pea Gift Shop and she would give one of hers! She was a treasure to many and sorely missed.

I worked at WH for 20 yrs and Sally was a special friend to me . Oh the stories we would share about our children and the love she had for hers and her Grandchildren and her Husband. When I had my 1st Grandchild ( a granddaughter..I had 3 boys) Sally and the Women at the Gift shop showered me with love and presents for our Katie . I loved Sally dearly and I am so sorry to hear of her loss . It hurts my heart . Love and prayers for all of you as you mourn the loss of a beautiful soul .

When my son John died, my neighbor gave this to me. I hope this helps you in your grief.
Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not gone, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamonds glint on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning hush, I am the soft uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the stars that shine at night. Do not think of me as gone. I am with you still in each new dawn. With deep sympathy, Donna
