T.R. Goforth Obituary

Goforth, T.R. "Rick"

May 29, 1945 - May 13, 2021

T. R. "Rick" Goforth, 75, of Greensboro, NC peacefully passed away Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Hospice Home of the Piedmont surrounded by his closest family and love of his life.

Rick was born in Washington, DC to Charlie and Mary Helen Goforth. He graduated from Greensboro High School in 1963. He started his career at Vanstory Clothing store and then pursued his dream of owning his own clothing store, T. R. Goforth Fine Clothing in downtown Greensboro. His favorite memories included traveling to New York to buy for the store and, of course, enjoying lots of good meals and building lasting friendships with the manufactures and customers.

Rick always had an eye for style, which later transitioned into a new career selling furniture. He loved using his expertise customizing the pieces for his customers. When asked what made Rick such a good salesman, his response was "keeping my word." Rick always had a passion for his work and was still talking "work" even in his final days.

Rick and Sandy were a team in everything they did. They enjoyed working together, many walks in the park, and even ordering the same meals when out to eat. As long as they were together, life was good.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by the love of his life, Sandy Wofford, her children Cameron and Mandy Locklar, his son Richie Goforth, daughters Kristin (Mike Saunders) Goforth and Lauren (Darryl) Cox, a sister Yvonne (Doug) Davis, and five grandchildren, Ryan, Sydney, Carson and Olivia Cox and McKenna Saunders.

A private graveside service will be held on Monday, May 17, 2021. A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 20 at Summerfield Farms – The Pole Barn, in Summerfield, NC at 2 pm.

The family will forever be grateful for the loving care we received from everyone at Hospice. In remembrance of Rick's life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1803 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262 or The Alzheimer's Disease Research Fund, Duke Health Development and Alumni Affairs, 300 W. Morgan St, Ste #1200, Durham, NC 27701.
