Travis Jeffords Obituary

Travis Jeffords

October 10, 1984 - October 13, 2024

The powerful force of creativity, kindness, and love that walked the Earth as Travis Jeffords died unexpectedly Sunday, October 13, 2024. His parting leaves a rift in the fabric of so many lives, organizations, musical collectives, hearts, and quiet places of the soul. Travis was light. We are walking on a dimmed path without him.

Travis grew up playing in Austin, TX - on youth soccer teams, in local orchestras, and in a host of music venues with his high school rock band. He graduated with a BA in Music Theory and Composition from Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX the halls of which led him to his perfect match, Ashlee Andrews. Ashlee and Travis were married in 2008 in the chapel on Southwestern's campus. Together, they were a deep well of energy for so much good. It was a joy to behold.

Travis earned an MA in Music Composition from the University of Texas at Austin, a Masters of Divinity from Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, and an MS in Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro. He interned in the Hospital Chaplaincy Program at Indiana University Health. He also led authentic and energizing worship services at churches in Bloomington, IN and Greensboro, NC.

Most recently, Travis had been doing the life-changing work of a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in Greensboro.

He was a bundle of determination and imagination for people and causes and projects he believed in.

The people in Travis's Wide Circle of Love grieving the loss of his physical presence include:

His beloved Ashlee Andrews, and their precious daughters Roxie Rose and Simone Opal of Greensboro, NC; his parents, Chuck Jeffords and Angelica Lopez of Austin, TX; his brother John Jeffords and John's partner Stephen Sheffer of New York, NY; his mother-in-law Opal Andrews of Greensboro, NC; brother-in-law Sean Johnson Andrews, his wife Jill Johnson Andrews, and their children Iris and Atlas of Chicago, IL; brother-in-law Shannon Andrews, and his wife Nicole Andrews of Lewisville, TX.

Also grieving are Travis's Aunt Blanca Irma Lopez Davenport of San Antonio, TX; Aunt Marisela Lopez Moreno and her husband José of Dallas, TX; Uncle John Jeffords and his wife Anne of Newport News, VA; Uncle Donald Jeffords of Temple, TX; Uncle Alejandro Lopez and his wife Linda of Alice, TX; Aunt Barbara Jane Cotton-Jeffords of Venice, CA. Travis's Aunt and Uncle in-laws will also miss him deeply, especially the Bloomington, IN branch of Uncle Ronald Andrews and Aunt Nancy Bannister and their family.

Others left in this wake of loss are four cousins, ten cousin-in-laws, so very many dearest, dearest friends, dozens of wildly respected colleagues and collaborators, as well as countless people who may never have known Travis's name, but never doubted they had been seen and heard in his presence.

Preceding Travis in death are his grandparents, John and Marcia Kessler Jeffords; Alejandro and Blanca Vallejo Lopez; his uncles, Robert Jeffords and Steven Davenport; and his father-in-law, Stephen Andrews.

A service to Celebrate and Remember the life of Travis Jeffords is scheduled for Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 10 a.m., Grace United Methodist Church, 438 W Friendly Avenue, Greensboro, NC, 27401.
