William Vernon Craven Jr. 93 of Greensboro died on September 30, 2025 at Beacon House. He was born on February 7, 1932 in Portsmouth, OH and was preceded in death by his parents, William V. Craven Sr. and Ethel Carver Craven; his wife, Frances L. Craven; and his daughter and son-in-law, Pam Birmingham and Mike. Vernon was a member of Newlyn Street United Methodist Church and retired from R.H. Barringer Distribution Company. He is survived by his two daughters, Debbie Owen and husband, Bruce of Salisbury and Sandra Harris and husband Don of Greensboro three grandchildren, Christina Rabon and husband Kyle, Heather Harris and Adam Harris and wife Victoria; four great grandchildren, Sklyer and Drew Rabon, Mason Merkle and Wyatt Harris.
The funeral service will be held on 1 p.m. on Friday October 3 at Forbis and Dick, N. Elm Street Chapel. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 12 to 12:50 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private for the family. Rather than flowers to honor his memory, the family invites you to consider a donation to the church that held such a special place in his heart Newlyn Street United Methodist Church, 212 E. Newlyn St. Greensboro, NC 27408 The funeral will be held at N. Elm Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Online condolences may be offered at www.forbisanddick.com. Forbis and Dick, N. Elm Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
