MADISON William "Bill" Robert Hatcher, Jr., 75, went home to be with Jesus Friday, May 20, 2016 at Wesley Long Community Hospital in Greensboro surrounded by his loving family.A 12:00 p.m. funeral service will be held Monday, May 23, 2016 at Ray Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James Crews officiating. Interment will follow at Mayodan Municipal Cemetery.A Rockingham County native, Bill was born September 11, 1940, the son of William Robert and Lottie Williams Hatcher. He was a member of Dan Valley Community Church. Bill retired from Burlington Industries with 40 years of faithful service. After his retirement from Burlington, he worked part-time at Syd's Tobacco Shop for seven years.In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Layne Hatcher.He is survived by his former wife, Carolyn Hatcher of Madison; five children, Keith Robert Hatcher of Madison, Kenneth William Hatcher and wife Shari of High Point, Kimberly Boviall and husband Kelly of Greensboro, Kevin Ray Hatcher of Madison and Kurt Randall Hatcher and wife Damaris of Madison; sister Barbara Ann Bullins and husband Cecil of Madison; five grandchildren, Marisa and Matthew Bumgardner of Greensboro, Jasmine and William Hatcher of Madison and William Porter and wife Chelsea of Walkertown; several special nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2016 at the funeral home and other times at the family home.
