William Suttle Obituary

William (Bill) Allen Suttle

April 21, 2025

William (Bill) Allen Suttle passed away peacefully on April 21, 2025, at the age of 83, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and an appreciation of life's simple joys. A resident of Arbor Acres for eight years, he was born in Shelby, NC, to the late Elizabeth Froneberger Suttle and Allen Suttle. A year later, the family moved to Great Falls, SC, where Bill graduated from high school. He earned a degree in statistics from Clemson University and a Master of Textile Engineering from North Carolina State University. He was a forever Clemson fan, with the fight song often heard coming from his cell phone.

Bill served his country in Vietnam for one year before beginning a thirty-five-year position in Greensboro as Quality Engineer with Burlington Industries. After retiring, he earned the Black Belt in Six Sigma and consulted for Abbott Labs and Takata Corporation, teaching the Six Sigma quality process.

Survivors include his wife, Camille Farris Suttle; and sons, William Mark Suttle and wife, Wesley of Winston Salem, Samuel Brown Suttle and wife, Mary-Ellen of Richmond, VA, and Allen Edward Suttle and wife, Katherine of Winston Salem. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Nan, Ward, Meyer, Graham, Anne-Wesson, Mary-Quinn, Will, Henry, and Grant Suttle. He is also survived by sisters, Shirley Suttle of Atlanta, GA, and Nancy Suttle Abercrombie and husband, Rhett of Columbia, SC.

Bill's kindness and gentle soul left a lasting impression on those he met. Exemplifying the spirit of a southern gentleman, he was always ready to help others. He was happiest in the company of his sons and grandchildren, talking and watching sports, or dining outside with friends.

A service of thanksgiving and remembrance will be held in Piner Hall at Arbor Acres Retirement Community on May 17, 2025, at 2 p.m.

Donations may be made in his memory to Arbor Acres, The Garden of Peace, 1240 Arbor Rd, Winston Salem, NC, 27104, or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Bill Suttle serves as an excellent example of resilience, kindness and affection that will last as long as all of us who knew and admired him live. We are grateful for showing us how to demonstrate strength and love for one's family even when facing our own physical challenges.
