Daniela Alejandra Cortez, 10, died Wednesday, August 24, 2016.
Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of Jaime E. Cortez and Rachel Rossmann.
Daniela, "Dani", was a beloved sister and a great friend to many. She had a contagious laugh and an excellent sense of humor. Dani was kind and helpful and went out of her way for others. She loved to cook and bake and wanted to be a chef when she grew up.
Surviving are sisters, Sophia Cortez and Fiorella Orozco; stepfather, Bernhard Rossmann; stepmother, Fiorella Cortez; and grandmothers, Marcia Melendez and Helen Garcia.
Visitation will be held Monday, August 29, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Downtown Chapel.
Condolences may be sent to the family at www.thomasmcafee.com
In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Blythe PTA, 100 Blythe Dr, Greenville, SC 29605 for a memorial to be done at Blythe Academy in Daniela's honor.

My daughter Anna and Daniela ate lunch everyday until we moved to Spartanburg last year. I was lucky enough to eat with both the girls a few times. Daniela was a sweet, loving girl who was a great friend to Anna. So sorry to hear of her passing. She will truly be missed.

I have seen Daniela grow up at Blythe and have been on several field trips with her. She was in my daughter Elena's class again this year. She was a sweetheart of a girl with tons of laughter and personality in a little package. She will be greatly missed. My deepest condolences to the family and I pray for strength for you to get through what will more than likely be the toughest thing you will ever face. May God bless you.

Rachel, Bernard & Sophia, Words cannot express the sorrow I feel for you & your family. I know how much she was loved here on this earth by all of you & by Helen, her grandmother. She talks about both girls all the time. She will always be with you. We are so sorry to hear about Daniela's passing. We are Mac Buchanans grandparents in Hartsville sc. Mac and Miller were always talking about her and she was really a special person to them.. Both always said she s their girlfriend and how beautiful she was. There are no words I can say to get you past this but know she made a mark in this world even tho she was only here a short time.
