David Jaeger Obituary

David Scott Jaeger

Jacksonville Beach, FL

David Scott Jaeger, born August 1, 1960, was surrounded by his family when he took his last breath on May 30, 2014 after battling cancer. Well loved by many, he was a cherished friend and will be fondly remembered for his charm, generous nature, undeniable sense of humor, and his deep devotion to his family.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, he enlisted in the Army and served from 1977-80. He attended Spartan School of Aeronautics in Oklahoma to study Nondestructive Testing and worked in the NDT industry for 32 years, the last 17 at Integrity Aerospace Group.

Outside of work and his family life, he spent countless hours golfing with anyone he could find who got a "kitchen pass". He was also actively involved as a friend of Bill W. for 17 years, creating lasting relationships while helping many others along the way.

His memory will be treasured by his loving wife of 30 years, Cathy Douglas; son, Zachary; daughter, Samantha; his mother, Sylvia; sisters, Susan Adams and Stephanie Osburn; along with extended family members, a host of long time friends, and many others who were touched by David's presence in their lives.

There will be a private scattering of his ashes. Contributions in his honor may be made to the Northeast Florida Community Hospice of Jacksonville or to a charity of your choice that's close to your heart. His life in photos and an everlasting memorial can be found at www.mem.com in the days ahead where you may share stories of your time with this exceptional man. Be at peace, Dave.

Zoom:

I spent many moments driving with, playing golf, eating, and sharing life with you. Your smile was infectious and your love for your family undeniable. You were so proud of his children and they were always in the forefront of your thoughts,

I remember the day you became an A player at Bonnie Brae. You shot a terrific score and from that day forward we always laughed, "the pressure at this level is unbelievable." LOL

The funniest moment together was at BB, on the 16th hole; Barco was lining up for a rabbit put, and you know how how much Barco loves rabbits, and I said; "the pressure at this level is unbelievable,", we both start hooting and Barco misses the putt.

Good bye my friend, remember what I told you in March when we last saw each other as were departing in the parking lot, that I loved you. You are always an A player in my book, and remember that there is no pressure where you are and putts are always made in the center cup.

Until our next T time, Brad.

My prayers and thoughts go out to the Jaegers, your father and husband deeply loved you all.

Dave leaves behind many good memories. I'll miss the quiet talks we had over dinner at industry conferences and the enthusiastic golfing advice. I hope to put that advice to use this year.

I'll always remember the positive attitude he maintained in the face of his illness and that he made himself available for a final phone conversation even though he must have been very weak.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave bereft
I am not there. I have not left.

“He Is Not Dead

I cannot say, and I will not say
That he is dead. He is just away.
With a cheery smile, and a wave of the hand,
He has wandered into an unknown land
And left us dreaming how very fair
It needs must be, since he lingers there.
And you—oh you, who the wildest yearn
For an old-time step, and the glad return,
Think of him faring on, as dear
In the love of There as the love of Here.
Think of him still as the same. I say,
He is not dead—he is just away.”

Dave was one of my golfing buddies and played with our group for 2 years. As infuriating as that game can be I don't think I ever saw Dave get rattled or frustrated. He always had an encouraging word and a pat on the back. On behalf of the group I extend sincere condolences to Dave's family. One of the nicest guys it's been my privilege to know.
