Edward Strother Obituary

Edward William Strother

Greenville

Edward W. Strother, of Greenville, South Carolina passed December 11, 2015, in his 60th year. Edward was born in Scotland County, NC to the late Ralph Lee Strother and Emma Lois Autry. He was a graduate of Hoke High School and the University of South Carolina, enjoyed USC and UNC sports, especially basketball. He was an accomplished financial planner with Edward Jones Investments and a dedicated member of Brookwood Community Church where he was active in local mission ministry. His life was devoted to his family, friends, church, and clients. A loving and devoted father and husband, beloved by all those who knew him well, and cared for by his church, family, and friends. The greatest daddy a girl could ever hope to have and one of the best men any fortunate person could ever encounter, much less get to know and enjoy in their lives. He was always quick with a witty remark, and went out with the God-given, amazing smirk, with which he was graced.

Surviving are Alison and Jean Strother, currently residing in Royal Palm Beach, FL; sister, Catherine Brock (Jessie) and brother, Dennis Strother (Cindy) of Raeford, NC.

Memorial service Thursday, December 17, 2015, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Brookwood Community Church, Simpsonville, SC. The family will greet friends immediately following the service. Committal service Saturday, December 19, 2015, at 2:00 pm in Ashley Heights Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Missions Ministry of Brookwood Community Church, 580 Brookwood Point Place, Simpsonville, SC 29681.

Ed has been our financial advisor for 15 years, we were shocked and saddened to learn of his passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Ed always called on our birthday and sung "Happy Birthday" over the phone. What other financial advisor does this? He will be sorely missed.

I am dismayed by the news of Ed's sudden passing. Ed had been my financial advisor for decades and he was a friend. Ed helped me a few years back dealing with my husbands passing at the same time as the plant I worked at was closing forcing me into unplanned early retirement. I don't know what I would of done without his knowledge and kindness. Ed was a truely good man. I will miss our conversations.
