Emilie Bottiggi Obituary

Emilie Marchant Bottiggi

Hendersonville, TN - Emilie Marchant Bottiggi, age 69, passed away in Hendersonville, TN on January 19, 2021. She was born in Greenville SC, the daughter of the late Elizabeth Lucas Marchant and Tom Marchant Jr. She was the fourth of five children: Tom Marchant III (Deborah), Seabrook Lucas Marchant (Anne), Elisabeth Marchant (David Jensen), and Craig Marchant (Betsy). She attended J. L. Mann high school, third in her class. She is survived by her daughter Mackenzie Bottiggi Cissell and grandsons Caleb and Cooper Cissell of Louisville, KY.

Emilie graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1972 in three years. After graduation, she continued to live in the Nashville area where she stayed until her death, while living at Main Street Senior Living in Hendersonville.

Emilie was a member of the Church of the Redeemer in Greenville SC, Church of the Advent in Brentwood, TN, and a founding member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd where she served as a lector and chalice bearer. Most recently, she became a member of St Timothy Lutheran Church in Hendersonville, TN where she served also as a lector.

She loved spending her summers at Caesar's Head, SC where she had many friends and was the "unofficial" photographer for events. Emilie was passionate about animal rescue having fostered and rescued many animals during her lifetime.

She had a long career at MassMutual, as well as Life and Casualty, American General Life, and New England Financial. She won many trips for high sales production and was able to travel to many places across the United States and abroad.

A generous person, Emilie always looked for opportunities to give back and serve, and those included but were not limited to, her church activities, community affairs, and any events where she could serve as unofficial (or official) photographer. "Images by Emilie" became her moniker. She loved country music and showing off her clogging style! Rest in peace, Emilie.

Love and prayers to Makenzie and Emily's grandchildren. We have many fond memories of Emily during her time at Advent. I still have loads of photos that she took as the official Advent photographer. RIP Emily.
