Glenn Gaines Obituary

Glenn Dale Gaines, 72, of 625 Creighton Drive, husband of Kathy Beardslee Gaines, died Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at Greenville Memorial Medical Center.

Born in Gladewater, Texas, he was the son of the late Samuel Forest and Corine Glenn Gaines.

Mr. Gaines was retired from Unisys and a member of Lee Road Baptist Church. He was a United States Army veteran.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Butch Decker of Pelzer; seven grandchildren, Clayton Murphey, Nick Decker, Jonathan and Jason Gaines, Maggie and Katie Heaton, and Shane McGuire; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Gaines of Greenville; a sister, Ida Lois Russell of Gilmer, Texas; mother-in-law, Teresa Emerson of Taylors; a stepdaughter, Laura Heaton and her husband, Larry, of Seneca; a stepson, Scott Meade and his wife, Cheryl, of Boone, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Ann Gaines and a son, Glenn Dale Gaines, Jr.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Visitation will be held Saturday, September 29, 2007 from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown, with services to follow at 1:30 p.m. in the downtown chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
