Rev. Hal Robinson Hovis

Belton

Rev. Hal Robinson Hovis, 89, died Monday, October 22, 2012.

Born in Lincolnton, NC, he was the son of the late Garland Franklin and Bessie Robinson Hovis. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. He was an Army Air Corp veteran of the Army 7th Air Corp, 41st Bomb Group Head Quarters Squadron during WWII. He was a graduate of Warren Wilson College, a Baptist Minister and an avid outdoorsman.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Faye Timmons Hovis and his brother, Charles Hovis.

He is survived by his daughters, Nancy Fox and husband Ed of Greenville and Jane Garrett and husband Jerry of Easley; son, Randy Hovis and wife Brenda of Belton; sister, Ann Steed and husband Joe of Blythewood, SC; 3 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends prior to the service Thursday from 1:45pm until 2:45pm with the service immediately following at 3:00pm at Cox Funeral Home Chapel, Belton. Interment will follow at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Medi Home Hospice, 20 Roper Corners Circle Greenville SC 29615.

Randy, Jane, Nancy, I remember all of the good times that we had at Piedmont Park Baptist. I remember living across the street from you. I loved your mom and dad so much. Your dad will always be remembered as a kind, loving Pastor and friend. You all are in my prayers during this time. Please know that love and hugs are being sent.

So sorry for your loss, I thought alot of Rev. Hal Hovis in my days at Piedmont Park Bpt. Church.I can especially remember my Dad (whom is 96) thought much of him. My prayers will be with Nancy, Jane and Randy and families but we know Rev. Hovis is rejoicing! Rhonda Jones Vaughn
