Jackson Cowdrey Obituary

Jackson E. Cowdrey

Greer - Jackson Eugene Cowdrey, age 21, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday November 14, 2018. He was born February 5, 1997 to Michael Cowdrey of Landrum, SC, and Kristel Penfield Cowdrey of Greer, SC. He was a 2015 graduate of Greer Middle College Charter High School, Taylors, SC, and was a member of the Class of 2019 at Anderson University in Anderson, SC.

In addition to his parents, Jackson is survived by a sister, Dalton (John) Ehr of Greer, SC; a brother, Wyatt Cowdrey of the home; and Jackson's girlfriend, Aleisse Buck of Anderson, SC. Also surviving are his maternal grandmother, Elvena (Bill) Schmugge of Lutz, Florida; paternal grandmother, Dempsey Cowdrey of Greer, SC; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Eugene Penfield, and his paternal grandfather, Charles Cowdrey.

While in college, Jackson was employed by Cutco Cutlery, where he had many friends, won numerous awards, and was known by his character, strength, ambition, and motivation. He maintained a full-time job while finishing his degree at Anderson. He was of the Baptist faith.

Most importantly, Jackson lived the Great Commandment: he loved the Lord with all his heart, soul, and mind, and loved others as himself. Jackson was a source of strength for others, both personally and professionally. He loved Jesus, his family and friends, baseball, the outdoors, and was an avid fisherman, having won local and regional tournaments through the years. He gave the best hugs, was quick with a smile, and so funny.

Although our hearts are heavy with our loss, we have the unshakeable assurance that we will see Jackson again one day.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2018 at The Wood Mortuary, conducted by Rev. Joseph Vest.

Visitation will be held 12:30-1:45 p.m. Sunday at The Wood Mortuary.

The family is at the home.

Our deepest sympathies to you Jackson's family. Wish we could have met him, but we will in God's glorious kingdom. Elena and Bill are our good neighbors here in Cannon Falls. Bill attends our church and Evena often visits. What an amazing son you raised. Peace be with you.
