Jacob Petrich Obituary

Funeral service for Mr. Jacob J. "Pete" Petrich, 75, of Columbia, will be held at 2 p.m. today at Christ the King Lutheran Church. Interment will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Jim Nettles, Joe Parks, Skip Frier, Chad Matheny, Bill Wannamaker and Dr. Sam Shannon. Memorials may be made to Christ the King Lutheran Church, 7239 Patterson Road, Columbia, SC 29209. Greenlawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Petrich died Sunday, April 8, 2001. Born in Eveleth, Minn., he was a son of the late Jacob J. and Sophia Muelburg Petrich Sr. He was a retired Civil Servant with Fort Jackson. He also was retired from the U.S. Army and a was a Vietnam War veteran. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 6, of Columbia. He was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his wife, Elvira Roether Petrich of Columbia; a son and daughter-in-law, John J. and Ann Petrich; daughters and sons-in-law, Brigitta and Edwin Langston of Columbia, Wanda and Henry Avila of Chatsworth, Calif., and Suzanna Petrich of Columbia; sisters, Margaret Scott of Eveleth, Minn., Betty Fortman of Gilbert, Minn., and Caroline Welk of Two Harbors, Minn.; and seven grandchildren.
