James Messer Obituary

James Louis Messer, age 52, of 695 Sutton Road died Monday, Nov. 3, 2003.

A native of Haywood County, he was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Melvin Posey; and grandparents, Frank and Eula Teague and Creed and Annie Messer. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his mother, Frances Teague Posey, of Greenville, S.C.; his father and stepmother, Troy and Jackie Messer of Clyde, N.C.; a daughter, Angela Johnson of Greenville, S.C.; two sons, Troy and J.L. Messer of Greenville, S.C.; a sister, Gwen Messer of Waynesville, N.C.; two brothers, Jeff Messer of Atlanta, Ga., and Steve Messer of Waterville, N.C.; and two grandchildren, Amanda and T.J. Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, 2003, at the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ted Reeves officiating. Burial will follow at the Messer Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday prior to the service.

Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, 486 E. Marshall St., Waynesville, NC 28786.

Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville is in charge of arrangements.
