Jean Porter Obituary
Greer - Jean Porter, 71, wife of Ralph Porter of Greer, died Sunday, August 16, 2020 at her home.
Born in Augusta, GA, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Ruby Collins McRae.
Mrs. Porter was a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church. Jean was a guidance counselor and taught biology for the Greenville County School System.
She was preceded in death by sons, Bradford Porter and Jonathan Porter.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 21, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brushy Creek Baptist Church, 4999 Old Spartanburg Rd., Taylors, SC 29687.

Jean and I were neighbors and childhood friends in Augusta, and she was also a bridesmaid in my wedding. Her parents would take us for Sunday afternoon drives and to the "What-a-burger." Ralph, my prayers and deepest sympathy go out to you.

I knew her as a neighbor to my grandmother. She lived directly behind my grandmother’s house. As children we played in the yard togeather. Later we were both students at The Academy of Richmond County ARC she graduated two years prior to me. Jean was always a very sweet loving person. I am thankful that she was a christian, one day we shall see each other again in heaven. I am thankful for the time I knew her, God bless her family and friends, I’m sure she will be missed. Jean- I will miss your presence in this world. You were a fierce advocate for children never wavering in your belief that ALL of those you counseled and guided through middle school years deserved the best educational experience available.
