Joshua McIntyre Obituary

Joshua Scott McIntyre

Taylors

Joshua Scott McIntyre, 19, was hit by a car and died while longboarding on December 31, 2012. Josh was born February 5, 1993 in Pensacola, Florida. He moved to Taylors, South Carolina in 1998 and graduated from Eastside High School, where he played lacrosse, in 2011. Josh had a huge heart and loved to live life on the edge. He loved doing parkour and being with his friends. In recent years, he began working in childcare for the single mom's ministry and found he had a heart for the children he met there. God blessed us with Josh and his absence will be felt by many.

He is survived by his parents, Don and Nancy McIntyre, and his siblings, Sarah and Mike Kenefsky, Jenny and Brad Ritter, and Ryan and Kristi McIntyre. He is also survived by his grandmother, Theresa McIntyre, his niece, Sadie Kenefsky, and nephews, Benjamin Ritter, Jude Ritter, Brady McIntyre, and Graham Kenefsky as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved him unconditionally. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Patricia Gardner and G.L. McIntyre.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at Brushy Creek Baptist Church in Taylors on Saturday, January 5 at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Single Mom's Ministry at Brushy Creek Baptist Church,4999 Old Spartanburg Road, Taylors, SC, 29687.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it's the memories of you that are the most precious.

Josh was the most sweetest and most lovable person I know. He always put a smile on everyone's face and always made the most horrible moment in someomes life not so bad when he was around. He was my best friend and he was like a brother to me. I will never forget him or stop loving him. My prayers go out to his family right now. I know its a hard time right now but he is in a much better place

Praying that Jesus's sweet presence will be with you all.

Maybe if we never shed a tear
Maybe if we never wondered if he was really near
Maybe if we never had a terrible day
Then maybe we would never take time to pray.
Maybe if the storms of life never came
Maybe if we never experienced pain
Maybe if we never went through testings
Then maybe we would never count our blessings.

Maybe if we never had unanswered questions
Maybe if we never suffered from others transgressions
Maybe if we were never hurt by those we love
Then maybe we would never know all we need comes from above.
Maybe if we never had a friend forsake us
Maybe if we never felt a grief overtake us
Maybe if we never had a sleepless night
Then maybe God would never have to whisper peace that says “It's going to be alright.”

So maybe when God sends trials that seem to hurt us so
Maybe he is teaching us to learn to let go.
Maybe he is showing us things we would never see
If things were the way we want them to be.
So during the times of heartache and pain
Lord, help me praise you for the sunshine and rain.

Heartbreaking doesn't even begin to cover how tragic the loss of this young man is... My son recently met Josh and was so impressed by him. We are so sorry that this has happened. So many of our kids walk through yards and on the side of this road to see their friends...this is our neighborhood and its hard to believe how this could happen. Our thoughts and prayers are of Josh and his family.
