Rev. L. Wayne Wiggins

Abbeville - Reverend Lloyd Wayne Wiggins, 84, husband of Joyce Winchester Wiggins, passed away on March 18, 2018 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. He was born on July 29, 1933 in Fort Mill, SC to the late Lloyd E. and Emma Thomason Wiggins.

A native of Fort Mill, SC, he was a 1952 graduate of Fort Mill High School. Reverend Wiggins was a member of the U.S. Airforce 1952-1956 (Active Duty), 1956-1960 (Inactive Duty). He was a graduate of Presbyterian College class of 1961 and Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, TX in 1965. Upon graduation he began his continual education at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Reverend Wiggins was a member of the Abbeville First Baptist Church and the Abbeville Lions Club.

He served on leadership roles with the Home Mission Board, Billy Graham School of Evangelism, Law Enforcement Chaplin Seminars and Transitioning Ministry Training with Lifeway Ministries. Reverend Wiggins was the Senior pastor at Mountville Baptist Church, Fruitvale Baptist Church, George's Creek Baptist Church, Lakewood Baptist Church, Green Hill Baptist Church and retired from Abbeville First Baptist Church August, 1998.

Reverend Wiggins had a passion for Christ and a loving heart for others. He was a Godly man and spiritual leader for the people of his community, church and family. His family was truly blessed to call him a husband, father and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Marjorie and Wanda.

Reverend Wiggins is survived by his wife, Joyce Winchester Wiggins - she was the light of his life for 60 years; their children, daughter, Lisa Wiggins Seawright and husband John Seawright, Elberton, GA, his son, David Wayne Wiggins and wife, Sylena Wiggins; five grandchildren, Kristin Noell Scott, John Michael Seawright, Anna Lee Wiggins, Clark David Wiggins, and Madison Mosely Wiggins; and his beloved companion 'Shorty'.

The family will receive friends from 1:30PM to 2:30PM on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville. Funeral services will begin at 3:00PM at Abbeville First Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. John Keith officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Long Cane Cemetery.

The family is at their residence.
